In 2001, the SL of the 230 model series was presented for the first time to the Hamburg press, and the automotive world was quickly thrilled. After all, the SL offered an outstanding driving experience and at the same time the highest level of driving safety thanks to the combination of state-of-the-art electronic suspension systems, which was unique in the world at the time. In addition, the design of the model series combined tradition and future with striking details. These design special features include the narrow, wing-like profiles at the side air openings, the horizontally extended radiator grille and the muscular fender. Unlike its predecessors, the SL R 230 always carried its fixed roof with it. The integration of the retractable hardtop also made the body a special highlight, since the roof could be opened or closed at the touch of a button in just 16 seconds. Made from die-cast zinc with plastic parts, the hand-assembled precision model captures exactly the charm of the model series and sets the tone for a true representation with fine interior details. Four parts of the model can be opened: the doors, hood and tailgate. The retractable hardtop is also included with the model car. Supplied in Mercedes-Benz Classic packaging, the model is additionally accompanied by a screwdriver on a scale of 1:18, which can be used to loosen the screws on the packaging and to remove the model from the packaging using the glove also included.
